“Chief Boot Knocka” was recorded between 1993 and 1994 and features a total runtime of 53 minutes and 52 seconds. The album was produced by Sir Mix-a-Lot himself, along with Eugenius and Strange, who contributed to its eclectic sound.
The album spawned several singles, including “Put ‘Em on the Glass,” which was released on the same day as the album, followed by “Ride” on August 23, 1994, and “Sleepin’ Wit My Fonk” on April 4, 1995. “Put ‘Em on the Glass” became a notable track that highlighted Sir Mix-a-Lot’s playful lyrics and signature beats.
“Chief Boot Knocka” achieved moderate commercial success, reaching number 69 on the Billboard 200 and number 28 on the Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart in the United States. Additionally, the track “Just da Pimpin’ in Me” garnered recognition, earning a nomination for Best Rap Solo Performance at the 36th Annual Grammy Awards in 1994.
