Fans of the Power franchise have exciting news to look forward to, as Starz has officially ordered Power: Origins, the fifth installment in the series and the second prequel following Power Book III: Raising Kanan. The new series is set to consist of 18 episodes, with Sascha Penn, the showrunner of Raising Kanan, taking the helm as writer and executive producer.
Power: Origins will focus on the early days of iconic characters Ghost and Tommy as they navigate the challenges of being ambitious young entrepreneurs in New York City’s streets. The show promises to deliver a “fun, rambunctious exploration” of this pivotal time in the Power universe, highlighting the audacity and determination of these characters as they strive to become legends in the game.
While the lead roles of Tommy and Ghost have yet to be cast, MeKai Curtis will reprise his role as early adult Kanan Stark, a character he has portrayed throughout all four seasons of Power Book III: Raising Kanan. The franchise’s executive producer, Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson, originally played Kanan in the main Power series.
