On July 22, 2008, hip-hop duo People Under the Stairs released their second compilation album, The Om Years. This album serves as a collection of popular tracks from the group’s first four albums (The Next Step, Question in the Form of an Answer, O.S.T., and …Or Stay Tuned), along with additional b-sides and rarities, showcasing the duo’s evolution from 1996 to 2003.
The Om Years features a total runtime of 121:11 for the CD version and 56:05 for the LP version. It was released by Om Records and produced by the duo themselves, Thes One and Double K. The compilation consists of two formats: a double-CD album, where the first disc contains the main tracks and the second disc features b-sides and rarities, and a double-LP album that includes select tracks from the first CD along with two additional songs, “The Bomb Combo” and “Out Da Club.”
The release of The Om Years was timed to capitalize on the anticipation surrounding the group’s upcoming album, Fun DMC, and to highlight their prior successes with Om Records. The compilation not only serves as a retrospective of their work but also reaffirms People Under the Stairs’ significant contribution to the hip-hop scene.
As fans revisit The Om Years, it stands as a testament to the duo’s unique sound and enduring legacy in underground hip-hop. For more insights and updates on significant moments in hip-hop history, be sure to check out HipHopRaisedMeTheBlog.com!
