R&B and neo-soul icon Erykah Badu is set to celebrate the 25th anniversary of her critically acclaimed sophomore album, Mama’s Gun, with an extensive tour titled “Mama’s Gun ’25: The Return of Automatic Slim Tour.” The tour will kick off on October 3, 2025, in Hollywood, California, and will run through December, making stops in major cities across the United States, including Boston, Atlanta, Chicago, Brooklyn, and Nashville.
Mama’s Gun, released in November 2000, was a follow-up to Badu’s groundbreaking debut album Baduizm and solidified her status as a leading voice in contemporary music. The album features some of her most beloved tracks, including the Grammy-nominated hit “Bag Lady,” which became her first Top 10 hit on the Billboard Hot 100. Another fan favorite from the album is “Didn’t Cha Know,” showcasing Badu’s unique blend of soulful melodies and introspective lyrics.
The tour is particularly special as it comes on the heels of Badu’s collaboration with The Alchemist on the “Abi & Alan Tour,” which is also designed to promote their forthcoming joint album. This upcoming project will mark Badu’s first studio LP in 15 years, adding to the excitement surrounding her return to the stage.
