In Highest 2 Lowest, A$AP Rocky portrays an aspiring rapper who becomes embroiled in a kidnapping plot, a modern twist on Akira Kurosawa’s classic 1963 film High and Low. The film also stars Denzel Washington, who plays a legendary record label executive. Spike Lee recently praised A$AP’s performance on The Tonight Show, noting that the rapper held his own against Washington, a veteran actor known for his commanding presence. “In this film, Denzel and A$AP go toe-to-toe… A$AP wasn’t having that,” Lee stated.
