Lil Baby’s second studio album, “My Turn,” has claimed the No. 1 spot on Billboard’s list of the “Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums of the 21st Century.” This remarkable achievement places it ahead of a competitive top 10 that features notable albums such as Juice WRLD’s Goodbye & Good Riddance, J. Cole’s 2014 Forest Hills Drive, The Weeknd’s The Highlights, Kendrick Lamar’s DAMN., and others. Billboard’s rankings consider performance on weekly charts dating from January 1, 2000, to December 28, 2024.
Released in February 2020, “My Turn” was followed by a deluxe version in May of the same year. The album showcases an array of collaborations with artists like Gunna, Future, Lil Wayne, and Young Thug, among others. Its lead single, “The Bigger Picture,” garnered Lil Baby two nominations at the 2021 Grammy Awards.
Billboard noted that three supporting singles from “My Turn” reached the top 10 on the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart, and the album itself enjoyed a six-week run at No. 1. The impressive streaming numbers provided the album with longevity, allowing it to remain in the top 10 for weeks and eventually breaking records. By March 2022, “My Turn” became the album with the most weeks in the top 10, hitting its 85th week in that tier. Later that year, it also became the first album to register 100 weeks in the top 10 since the list’s inception in 1965.
In related news, Lil Baby has announced that his next project will be titled “The Leak$,” which is expected to drop soon. He explained that the album will consist of songs that have previously leaked, stating, “Most of the leaks don’t be, like, the real versions of s**t anyway. But, like, people already got it, so we just go with the leaks.”
