Snoop Dogg has made headlines once again, this time not just for his music but for his foray into the art world. The iconic rapper and visual artist recently launched an art collection titled “Ashes to Art,” which generated considerable excitement at auction, fetching an impressive $148,100.

The centerpiece of this unique collection is a piece titled “Snoop Doggy Dogg Genesis Burn,” which features Snoop’s signed and burned 1993 LAPD mugshot alongside a partially smoked blunt. The description of the artwork emphasizes its significance, stating, “This isn’t just a portrait—it’s a timestamp from the fire that forged an icon.” This particular piece alone sold for $70,000.

The auction, which took place recently, included a total of seven original works created by Snoop in collaboration with artist Erica Kovitz, co-founder of Joint Venture. Another noteworthy item in the collection, “DoggyStyle Decoded,” which includes an original Doggystyle CD, a joint tip, and a metal ashtray, sold for $16,500.

All of the pieces within the collection were carefully crafted, coated in crystal clear epoxy and a layer of marijuana resin, and framed in acrylic shadowboxes. Bidding for the artworks began at $9,000, and every piece in the collection found a new owner.

Snoop Dogg’s venture into the art realm showcases his multifaceted talents and his ability to blend his musical legacy with visual artistry. As the auction garnered attention, it further cements the rapper’s status as a cultural icon.
