West Coast veteran Glasses Malone, who’s been openly siding with Kendrick Lamar since the infamous beef kicked off, just dropped a video that’s got the entire hip-hop community in stitches, expertly trolling Drizzy’s legal maneuvers.
Drake has been catching serious flak from rappers and fans alike ever since he decided to launch a legal attack against UMG. He’s trying to sue his parent label for defamation, claiming they artificially inflated the popularity of Kendrick Lamar’s diss track, “Not Like Us.” While his die-hard fans argue that being branded a “certified pedophile” warrants such action, the head-butting between camps has been relentless, with Drake himself getting into online debates.
Just this past weekend, The Boy even went head-to-head with hip-hop journalist and former Genius employee, Rob Markman. After Markman shared an old clip of himself trying to rap Lil Wayne lyrics, Drake swooped into the comments, firing shots: “Of course this Goof Markman couldn’t finish the bar… free Tory.” Rob wasn’t having it, quick to clap back with, “@champagnepapi but if I start callin you names you gonna sue me [teary-eyed laughing face emoji].” Naturally, Kendrick supporters had a field day, crowning Rob the undisputed winner of that exchange.
But the trolling didn’t stop there, fam! Glasses Malone took it to a whole new level with his recent track, “Wanted,” and its accompanying music video is pure gold. The visuals kick off in a courtroom, a subtle nod that quickly turns into an outright roast session. Halfway through the video, a news reporter interrupts the broadcast, dropping some “breaking news” from inside the courthouse.
The reporter declares, “The prosecution star witness Drake is scheduled to take the stand… the first rapper ever to sue ’cause he lost a rap battle. Citing the legal precedent where McDonald’s had to write a fat check because the coffee they served was too hot.” Yeah, you read that right – the “coffee too hot” precedent! Shortly after, a hilarious fake Drake appears, taking the stand to the delight of fans who couldn’t get enough of the shade. Adding to the authenticity (and the laughs), independent court reporter Meghann Cuniff and hip-hop podcaster Justin “The Company Man” Hunte even make cameo appearances.
