Hip Hop Stories: Redman Admits He Was ‘Jealous’ When Ex Faith Evans Married Notorious B.I.G.

In a candid appearance on Acton Entertainment, veteran rapper and producer Redman, whose real name is Reginald Noble, opened up about his feelings regarding his ex-girlfriend Faith Evans’ marriage to the legendary Notorious B.I.G. Reflecting on their past, Redman admitted, “When she started her relationship with Biggie, I was jealous.”

Evans, now 52, was previously linked to Redman during their teenage years, and the two shared a significant bond. “First of all… Faith was my sister’s best friend, and I met Faith through my sister,” Redman explained. “Yeah, we were all young. Me and Faith was dating at a very young age before we got on. She’s always been a sweetheart to me.” This revelation adds a layer of nostalgia to their history, showcasing the deep connections formed in the early days of their lives.

Despite his feelings of jealousy, Redman noted that their relationship had ended before Evans began dating Biggie, and he was focused on his own career at the time. “When she started dating Biggie and stuff … I was doing my thing. I was already on tour wildin’ out with chicks, you know?” he said, emphasizing that he had moved on while still wishing the best for Evans.

Redman expressed admiration for Evans and her choices, stating, “So, when she dated Biggie, man, I was like, Faith has always been a smart person. She’s Brick City. She’s Jersey all day. So, of course, she’s going to move with good discernment.” This acknowledgment highlights the respect he has for her intelligence and decision-making.

The couple shared a son, Christopher Jordan “C.J.” Wallace, born in October 1996, and Redman remarked on how impressed he was with Evans’ success after becoming a mother. “Getting on, being successful, being part of one of the hottest rap crews at the time,” he said. “I was, ‘Wow, she’s doing her thing.’ So only thing I can do was salute her, pray for her and wish her the best.”

Faith Evans has reciprocated Redman’s sentiments in the past, describing him as a “real nice guy from a respectful family” in a 2010 interview with New York Magazine. She shared how Redman supported her during her early career and was a significant figure in her life, even becoming her daughter’s godfather.

Evans married Biggie in August 1994, and they remained together until his tragic death in March 1997. In a reflective moment during a 2022 interview with PEOPLE, Evans shared how she continues to honor Biggie’s memory in her home. “I walk down my stairs and there’s a portrait that someone gave me of him up in the top of the foyer. B.I.G. is a huge part of this house,” she said.

This heartfelt discussion between Redman and Evans showcases the complexities of relationships within the music industry, highlighting both the nostalgia and the enduring connections that remain despite the passage of time.
