Rapper Sean Kingston and his mother, Janice Eleanor Turner, have been ordered to pay $38,500 in restitution to a victim following their conviction in a $1 million fraud scheme in South Florida. Kingston, whose legal name is Kisean Paul Anderson, was sentenced to three and a half years in prison last month, while his mother received a five-year prison sentence.
The federal jury found Kingston and Turner guilty of conspiracy to commit wire fraud and multiple counts of wire fraud in March 2025. The court ruling came after a SWAT team raided Kingston’s rented mansion in May 2024, leading to their arrests. Kingston was apprehended at Fort Irwin, an Army training base in California, where he was performing.
According to court documents, Kingston orchestrated the scheme using social media from April 2023 to March 2024 to arrange purchases of high-end merchandise, including a bulletproof Escalade, luxury watches, and a 19-foot LED TV. After negotiating deals, Kingston would invite sellers to his Florida home, promising to promote their products on social media. However, when it came time to pay, he and his mother would send fake wire receipts, leaving victims in a frustrating predicament as funds never cleared.
Victims often found themselves repeatedly contacting Kingston and Turner for payment, but many were left unpaid until they escalated the matter by filing lawsuits or involving law enforcement.
Both Kingston and his mother are currently serving their sentences at a federal detention center in Miami. In addition to his prison term, Kingston will be on probation for three years following his release.
This case marks a significant chapter in the rapper’s career, which first gained prominence at the age of 17 with his hit single “Beautiful Girls” in 2007.
