In a significant ruling, a 40-year-old man has been sentenced to 10 years in prison for his involvement in drug trafficking activities in Maine. Kenneth Adams, a resident of Union, was charged with trafficking and distributing kilogram quantities of fentanyl and cocaine sourced from New York.
Adams pleaded guilty to the charges on December 20, 2024, and was sentenced by U.S. District Judge John A. Woodcock, Jr. In addition to his prison term, Adams will serve eight years of supervised release following his incarceration.
According to the United States Attorney’s Office, Adams engaged in drug trafficking from at least December 2023 through June 2024, moving fentanyl and cocaine from suppliers in the Bronx to mid-level drug dealers in Knox County for further distribution. His criminal activities were substantiated by evidence, including a recorded sale of 250 grams of fentanyl to a confidential informant in January 2024.
In a subsequent search of Adams’ Bronx residence, law enforcement officers executed a search warrant that resulted in the seizure of 260 grams of fentanyl, 780 grams of cocaine, and a loaded 9mm Smith & Wesson handgun. Court records indicated that Adams was in possession of a firearm related to his drug trafficking operations.
The case was investigated by Homeland Security and the Maine Drug Enforcement Agency, highlighting the ongoing efforts to combat drug trafficking and ensure public safety.
