Celebrity Deaths: WWE Tag Team Legend Sir Mo Passes Away at 58

WWE fans are mourning the loss of Robert Lawrence Horne, better known as Sir Mo, who has died at the age of 58. The news of his passing was confirmed by wrestling veteran Leilani Kai and reported by Ringside News, revealing that Horne had been struggling with pneumonia and a blood infection before he passed away in Texas on Sunday, October 19.

Horne began his wrestling career in the early 1990s, initially gaining recognition as one half of the Harlem Knights alongside Nelson Frazier, who would later become known as Mabel. Their impressive size and chemistry on the ring earned them a contract with WWF (now WWE) in 1993. Rebranded as Men on a Mission and accompanied by rapper-manager Oscar, the duo became a vibrant part of the wrestling scene, known for their colorful purple and gold attire and energetic entrances that captivated audiences.

One of their most significant achievements came during a U.K. tour when they briefly held the WWF Tag Team Championship. Following Mabel’s victory in the 1995 King of the Ring, where he was crowned King Mabel, Horne adopted the title of Sir Mo, taking on the role of his royal sidekick. Though the focus shifted to Mabel’s singles career, Sir Mo remained a prominent figure in the wrestling world, facing off against notable stars such as Owen Hart and The Smoking Gunns.

After leaving WWE in 1996, Horne continued his wrestling career on the independent circuit, even participating in the original Nation of Domination. He later founded his own wrestling promotions and made appearances as a special guest in various events. In 2014, he came out of retirement for a reunion under the banner MOM2K in Canada.

Most recently, Sir Mo and his wife, Denise Jones, operated SOAR Championship Wrestling in Dallas, where he continued to contribute to the wrestling community as a promoter and mentor.

Sir Mo’s legacy in the wrestling world will not be forgotten, as fans and fellow wrestlers alike remember him for his infectious smile, humor, and respect for others. As the wrestling community reflects on his contributions, he will surely be missed.
