Celebrity Lawsuits: Rod Wave’s Legal Battle Over $27 Million Tour Problems Escalates

Rod Wave is embroiled in a significant legal battle with his former concert promoter, Grizzly Touring LLC, which has filed a staggering $27 million lawsuit against him. The lawsuit, initiated in September, claims that Rod Wave breached his contract and failed to return advance payments made to him.

In response, Rod Wave countersued Grizzly, alleging that the promoter attempted to force him into continuing their partnership despite serious issues experienced during his “Last Lap” tour in 2024. He contends that Grizzly made it “logistically impossible” for him to meet his contractual obligations and is seeking to have his contract with the company declared null.

His attorney, James Sammataro, argued in the countersuit that Grizzly’s demands amounted to “indentured servitude,” stating, “Defendants have lost confidence in Grizzly as their tour promoter and no longer wish to perform services for Grizzly or receive Grizzly’s services.” Rod Wave also claimed that he often received last-minute notifications about show rescheduling, which resulted in confusion and disorganization—only 12 of the originally scheduled 35 shows took place as planned.

Recently, Grizzly filed a 36-page rebuttal in federal court, countering Rod Wave’s claims and asserting that he owes at least $27 million from the tour, alleging that they fronted over $57 million for the production. Grizzly argues that the issues during the second leg of the tour stemmed from Rod Wave’s team, who they claim approved a schedule that was “impossible to execute” due to the oversight of larger production needs.

As the legal disputes continue to unfold, both parties are entrenched in a battle that highlights the complexities of the music touring industry and the challenges artists can face with their promoters.
