Tragedy struck at the Harborview Terrace NYCHA complex in Hell’s Kitchen on November 2, when an 18-year-old girl reportedly died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. The incident occurred in a stairwell of the complex, located at 10th Avenue and West 56th Street, just before 1 a.m.
According to NYPD reports, the unnamed teenager was found with a gunshot wound to the head. Initial reports indicated that she was “shot to death,” leading to speculation about whether her injuries resulted from an accidental discharge or an intentional act. As of now, authorities are still investigating the circumstances surrounding the shooting.
Emergency responders rushed the girl to Mt. Sinai West hospital, but unfortunately, she could not be revived. The city’s Medical Examiner is currently conducting an autopsy to determine the exact cause of death.
