Kris Boyd, a defensive back for the New York Jets, is currently fighting for his life in a hospital after being shot in a disturbing incident in Manhattan.
Reports from the New York Post indicate that the shooting took place early Sunday morning around 2 a.m. ET on West 38th Street near Seventh Avenue. While police have not officially confirmed Boyd as the victim, sources suggest that the 29-year-old athlete was critically injured and is receiving urgent medical attention at Bellevue Hospital.
The Jets organization has issued a brief statement acknowledging the situation involving Boyd but has opted not to provide further details at this time.
First responders arrived at the scene to find Boyd suffering from a gunshot wound to his abdomen. Authorities are actively investigating the incident and are currently searching for a suspect who fled the area in a blue vehicle.
Kris Boyd was selected in the seventh round of the 2019 NFL Draft and has previously played for the Minnesota Vikings from 2019 until 2022. He also had a stint with the Arizona Cardinals before joining the Houston Texans. In March, Boyd signed a one-year contract with the New York Jets but has been on injured reserve since August.
