Rapper Mack Mulla is facing a daunting 20-year federal prison sentence due to his involvement in a multi-state fentanyl trafficking ring. Despite his collaborations with notable artists like Jim Jones and Cassidy, the 32-year-old artist, born James Rodriguez Jr., found his dreams of success come crashing down in a federal courtroom.
Mulla was sentenced to 242 months by U.S. District Court Judge Robert D. Mariani, concluding a significant case that connected his Hip-Hop persona to a drug distribution operation spanning from Pennsylvania to New York. Federal prosecutors revealed that Mulla used his music connections and a storefront called Mulla Fashion on Scott Street as a cover for his narcotics activities.
While the establishment masqueraded as a clothing shop and recording studio, it functioned as the central hub for a drug enterprise that trafficked over a kilogram of fentanyl and eight kilograms of marijuana between 2021 and 2022. During a series of coordinated law enforcement raids, authorities seized 800 grams of marijuana, 37 grams of fentanyl, firearms, and tactical gear at the Scott Street location. A second stash house in Wilkes-Barre yielded an additional 159 grams of fentanyl, 400 grams of marijuana, and more weapons.
Investigators also uncovered Mulla’s international connections, including trips to Mexico, where he allegedly met with members of the MS-13 gang to establish supply lines. The case took a serious turn when prosecutors charged Mulla with drug delivery resulting in death, claiming that the drugs he supplied contributed to the fatal overdose of Luzerne County resident Anthony Greskewicz in October 2021. However, Mulla was acquitted of that charge along with another related to firearm possession during drug trafficking.
The investigation was a collaborative effort involving several agencies, including the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, Homeland Security Investigations, Kingston police, and the Luzerne County Drug Task Force.
