Celebrity Lawsuits: 50 Cent Takes Legal Action Against “Skillhouse” Producers Over Image Rights

50 Cent is embroiled in a legal battle with the producers of the low-budget horror-satire film Skillhouse, alleging that they have damaged his reputation and misused his image. The rapper and entrepreneur has filed a lawsuit against Ryan Kavanaugh and the film’s production team, seeking at least $5 million in damages for what he describes as the “brazen and unauthorized” use of his likeness.

Despite the film’s release in July, which attracted a dismal box office performance of less than $100,000 and abysmal reviews—one critic even labeled it a “giant pile of sh*t”—50 Cent’s legal troubles have only intensified. According to reports, the issues began when 50 Cent filmed scenes for *Skillhouse* with the expectation that a formal agreement would be reached, but that did not occur. Feeling aggrieved, he claims the producers breached a settlement by utilizing his image and likeness without proper authorization.

In his extensive 50-page lawsuit, 50 Cent points out that promotional materials for the film falsely labeled it as “A 50 CENT MOVIE” and “PRODUCED BY 50 CENT.” Furthermore, he alleges that the producers employed bottles of his champagne brand, Le Chemin du Roi, to lend credibility to the project. This, he argues, has not only harmed his reputation but has also adversely affected his opportunities for future acting roles.

Adding to the complexity of the case, Kavanaugh and the Skillhouse team are accused of leveraging 50 Cent’s brand to launch their own streaming service, GenTV, directly competing with 50’s own venture, 50 Cent Action, which is in partnership with Lionsgate.

Despite his efforts to block the film’s release in federal court just weeks before its premiere, 50 Cent’s attempts were unsuccessful. As he navigates the fallout from this controversy, the G-Unit mogul seeks to reclaim his image and secure justice against those he believes have wronged him.
