In a shocking turn of events, Columbia rapper Blacc Zacc, whose real name is Zachary Chapman, is now facing the possibility of the death penalty following grave federal charges. As reported by South Carolina’s The State, Zacc has been implicated in a purported murder-for-hire scheme and is also facing extensive RICO (Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations Act) charges linked to drug trafficking, robbery, and gang-related activities.
The federal indictment, detailed in a comprehensive 22-page document, accuses Zacc of masterminding Dirty Money Entertainment, an alleged street gang operating within South Carolina. One particularly alarming allegation indicates that Zacc orchestrated a bounty on a rival gang member in September 2021, believing that the individual had stolen his diamond chain. Tragically, that rival was shot and killed the following month.
Due to the inclusion of murder in connection with a criminal enterprise, this case is now eligible for the federal death penalty. The U.S. Justice Department will ultimately determine whether to pursue this extreme measure, a decision-making process that may extend over several months.
In anticipation of the legal proceedings, the court has appointed “learned counsel,” a requirement for federal capital cases.
