
David Marvin Blake Jr., son of renowned rapper DJ Quik, has been convicted of second-degree murder, stemming from a tragic incident in 2022 that resulted in the death of a man in a Los Angeles suburb. The Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office confirmed that Blake Jr. was found guilty of one count of second-degree murder and one count of shooting from a motor vehicle.
The charges relate to a confrontation that took place on May 25, 2022, between Julio Moises Cardoza Jr. and another individual on Carfax Avenue, near the San Gabriel River. Prosecutors state that Blake Jr. was inside a nearby vehicle when he fired multiple gunshots at Cardoza Jr., who later succumbed to his injuries at the hospital. Blake Jr. was arrested the following day.

Now facing a potential sentence of up to 40 years in prison, Blake Jr., who celebrated his 31st birthday on the day of the conviction, is scheduled to be sentenced on February 6, 2026. The conviction raises questions about whether he intends to appeal the decision; however, there has been no response to inquiries regarding his plans.
