National News: Decomposed Body of Gunman’s Tenant Discovered in Stamford Home Amidst Standoff

In a tragic turn of events, the Stamford Police Department has confirmed the identity of a decomposed body discovered handcuffed in the residence of a gunman involved in a recent standoff with police. The victim has been identified as 79-year-old Carmine Boccuzzi, whose death has been ruled a homicide due to “blunt impact injuries of the head and torso with gagging,” according to the medical examiner.

The discovery was made on December 2, during a tense standoff initiated by the attempted eviction of gunman Jed Parkington, 63, who had fallen behind on mortgage payments. Court documents revealed that Boccuzzi was renting a room in the home and was named on the eviction notice that led authorities to Parkington’s residence.

This incident escalated when a state marshal arrived at the home to carry out the eviction. Witnesses reported that Parkington forcibly pushed his wife out of the house, instructing her to find safety and ominously warning, “This is not going to end well.” He was reportedly dressed in military attire adorned with a Nazi insignia and was believed to be in possession of explosives, as stated by the marshal.

In light of the escalating situation, the Stamford Police’s Special Response Team (SRT) and a hostage negotiator were dispatched to the scene. Authorities later released recordings detailing a seven-minute conversation between Parkington and the negotiator, during which he expressed frustration over the housing crisis, stating, “How can they throw people out if they don’t have any place to put ’em except a shelter?”

As the SRT team approached the residence using an armored vehicle, Parkington opened fire on them, prompting a retreat. Police body camera footage captured the moment the vehicle pulled back, with one officer remarking on the visibility issues caused by gunfire damage.

Subsequent drone surveillance revealed Parkington firing from behind a makeshift barricade made of cinderblocks. Hours later, he took his own life inside the home.

The investigation is still ongoing, and authorities urge anyone with information to reach out to the Stamford Police Department at 203-977-4421.
