It’s been a challenging holiday season for the hip-hop community, as rapper Nino Breeze finds himself in legal trouble. The artist, known for his affiliation with Rick Ross’ Maybach Music Group, has been charged with “conspiracy to possess with intent to distribute marijuana,” a serious felony, according to reports from TMZ.
Born Vaughn Matthews, Breeze surrendered to federal marshals in Tampa, Florida, on Monday. To secure his release just in time for Christmas, he posted a $100,000 cash bond along with an equal amount in property.
In a statement to TMZ, Breeze’s attorneys, Bradford Cohen and Mark Rankin, expressed optimism about the situation, stating, “Nino will be home for Christmas. We look forward to examining the evidence to reach a fruitful resolution through trial.”
This isn’t the first time Breeze has faced legal challenges; he previously served time for firearms-related charges tied to a drug trafficking operation. Since his release, he has made a name for himself in the music industry with hits like “NEW ERA 8,” “448 FLOW,” and his collaboration with Moneybagg Yo on “Type a N—a.”
