Nassau County police have made an arrest in what is believed to be the first murder case in New York State for the year 2026.
Authorities report that Stephen Primm from Bay Shore was taken into custody following a shooting incident that occurred around 2 a.m. on New Year’s Day in New Cassel. The shooting involved 40-year-old Joseph Fountain, who was struck four times during a confrontation that took place outside a residential home where he and another man were engaged in a fight.
Stephen Primm, the alleged shooter, has a history of prior arrests, including drug-related offenses, assault, and burglary.
