In a heartwarming display of support, NBA star Kyrie Irving has made headlines by purchasing LaRussell’s upcoming album for an impressive $11,000. The Bay Area rapper is on a mission to sell 100,000 copies of his new project, Something’s In The Water, independently, and celebrities like Irving are stepping up to help him achieve this ambitious goal.
LaRussell, known for his vibrant presence in the West Coast hip-hop scene, was genuinely surprised by Irving’s generous purchase. During a livestream, he shared the news with his fans, saying, “This morning, I woke up and I had a sale for $11,000. And I’m like, who the hell would give me $11,000? And it happened to be number 11 on the Dallas Mavericks.”
Irving’s support didn’t stop at the purchase; he reached out to LaRussell personally to express his admiration. “You earned it… You work your a*s off. I want to contribute to what you got going on. And I know you’ll pay it forward,” Irving told him.
In recognition of Kyrie’s generosity, LaRussell announced that he would be using part of the funds to assist those in need. “Kyrie Irving blessed me earlier this week and I’m paying it forward. I’m helping people with their bills this month! PG&E, Medical Bills, Rent Assistance, Phone Bills, Water, Diapers, Supplies, etc. I’ll be choosing people randomly who fill out the form in my bio!” he shared on Instagram.
The support from Irving is part of a larger movement, as hip-hop legend Snoop Dogg also contributed by purchasing the album for $2,500. LaRussell expressed his gratitude, noting, “It feels so good knowing those who came before me and paved a way for me to do what I do respects my art and my grind.”
For those interested in supporting LaRussell, his album Something’s In The Water is available for pre-order on EVEN, with the official release date set for February 6. As of now, the album has already sold 9,430 copies, indicating strong community support for the artist’s endeavor.
