In a significant development, Offset has successfully paid off his $1.5 million tax debt to the United States, as reported by Us Weekly. The payment clears a lien of $1,575,266.73 that the IRS had placed against the Migos rapper for the tax year 2022. However, it’s important to note that Offset still owes a total of $778,426 from the years 2021 and 2023.
This financial update comes in the wake of Offset’s estranged wife, Cardi B, revealing that his unpaid taxes have been a sticking point in their divorce proceedings. “The only reason why I’m still married is because somebody wants me to pay for their taxes,” Cardi stated on social media last year. She further explained that the only way to finalize their divorce would be for her to settle his tax debts and relinquish one of her properties. “I’m fighting for that, I’m gonna fight for that. This is not no love s***,” she declared.
Cardi B initially filed for divorce from Offset in 2024. Although the divorce is not yet finalized, she has moved on and is currently in a relationship with NFL player Stefon Diggs. The couple welcomed their first child together back in November and have been celebrating Diggs’ recent successes with the New England Patriots, who are set to compete against the Denver Broncos for a chance to play in the Super Bowl this Sunday.
