TV & Film: Netflix Cancels “The Vince Staples Show” After Two Seasons

In a disappointing turn of events for fans, Netflix has officially announced the cancellation of “The Vince Staples Show” after its second season. This news follows a period of anticipation for a potential third season, which will not materialize. According to Deadline, the decision to axe the series was primarily due to low viewership numbers, despite the show receiving positive reviews. It boasts a remarkable 94% rating from critics and an 88% score from audiences on Rotten Tomatoes. However, the second season only garnered 1.7 million views, ranking it 1,446th on Netflix’s viewership report for the second half of 2025.

The cancellation has sparked a wave of reactions on social media, with fans expressing their shock and dismay. One Twitter user lamented, “Y’all canceled THE VINCE STAPLES SHOW?! Some mfkin haters,” while another shared, “The Vince Staples Show being cancelled really hurt my heart.” A third user succinctly commented, “Sad, that was a good show.”

Vince Staples starred in the series alongside a talented cast that included Andrea Ellsworth, Vanessa Bell Calloway, Beau Billingslea, and Naté Jones. As of now, Staples has not publicly commented on the show’s cancellation.

In a previous discussion on the “After Hours” podcast, Staples elaborated on the creative vision behind the show. “The way the show was written — and this was always the intention — The Vince Staples Show is not about Vince Staples as a character,” he explained. He emphasized that the series aimed to provide a unique perspective rather than simply focusing on his personal narrative. “I think that was a hard thing for a lot of people to grasp,” he added, reflecting on the challenges he faced in shifting the audience’s expectations from a personal story to a broader exploration of characters and perspectives.
