HipHopRaisedMeSports: Nets Rookie Egor Demin Sets NBA Record with 3-Pointer Streak

In a remarkable display of shooting prowess, Brooklyn Nets guard Egor Demin has set a new NBA rookie record by making a 3-pointer in his 34th consecutive game. This achievement occurred during the Nets’ 106-99 victory over the Utah Jazz, where Demin led his team with an impressive 25 points, shooting 6-for-12 from beyond the arc.

Nets head coach Jordie Fernandez praised Demin’s capabilities, stating, “There’s a reason why we drafted him. We believed that [his] shooting was NBA shooting, and he’s proven it from the beginning.” This record-breaking moment not only highlights Demin’s skill but also underscores the confidence the Nets organization had in him when they selected him as the 8th overall pick from BYU last year.

Demin’s milestone ties him with Portland’s Rudy Fernandez (2008-09) and Philadelphia’s Landry Shamet (2018-19) for consecutive games with a made three-pointer. “You see the confidence growing in him,” remarked Nets center Day’ron Sharpe. “Who knows what Egor can be in the next couple of years?”

Reflecting on his journey, Demin acknowledged that his success is a product of hard work and dedication. He noted that the extra hours spent refining his shooting technique were crucial in transforming him into a reliable perimeter threat. In his one season at BYU, he struggled with a shooting percentage of just 27.3% from the three-point line, but credited BYU coach Kevin Young for equipping him with the skills necessary for the NBA.

“He’s an NBA coach, so he taught me — in this one year — basically whatever I had to know to be able to play at the NBA level,” Demin said. “He gave us a lot of knowledge so that I come here ready to play and know what we’re doing.”

As Demin continues to break records, he is also on track to achieve another significant milestone. He currently ranks second in all-time three-pointers made by a rookie in Nets history, trailing only Kerry Kittles, who made 158 threes during the 1996-97 season.

With his impressive performance and record-setting streak, Egor Demin is undoubtedly a player to watch as he continues to grow and make his mark in the league. For more updates on sports and hip-hop culture, keep following hiphopraisedmetheblog.com.
