A three-month operation conducted by the FBI has culminated in the arrest of 50 members of the notorious Latin Kings Gang, as part of “Operation Broken Crown.” This initiative has also led to the confiscation of $200,000 in assets and ten kilograms of illegal narcotics, including cocaine and fentanyl.
FBI Director Kash Patel hailed the operation’s success, emphasizing the collaborative efforts of 13 field offices and various federal, state, and local law enforcement agencies. In a recent post on X, Patel stated, “We’re breaking the violent gang network in America,” highlighting the FBI’s intensified focus on dismantling gang-related violence.
The operation follows a significant increase in gang-related arrests in 2025, where the FBI recorded a staggering 210% rise in takedowns of gangs like MS-13 and Tren de Aragua. As we move into 2026, Patel assures that the efforts against gang activity will continue unabated.
Originating in Chicago, the Latin Kings Gang is recognized as one of the largest Hispanic street gangs in the United States. Recently, members of the gang have made threats against federal law enforcement officers. Notably, in October, a gang member was apprehended after placing a bounty on the life of U.S. Border Patrol Chief Gregory Bovino, offering a $10,000 reward for anyone who could “take him down.”
The crackdown has not been without incidents; just weeks ago, an alleged Latin Kings member faced federal charges after breaking into an FBI vehicle and stealing a firearm in Minnesota.
