Local News: Brooklyn Man Arrested in Connection with 2021 Acid Attack in Elmont

In a significant development, a Brooklyn man has been arrested in relation to a horrifying acid attack that left a woman severely injured in Elmont back in 2021. The incident involved 21-year-old Nafiah Ikram, who was attacked while walking up her driveway in March of that year.

Ikram, a Hofstra University student, suffered extensive injuries, including first- and second-degree burns to her face, right eye, arms, and throat, resulting in limited vision in one eye.

Authorities confirmed the arrest of 29-year-old Terrell Campbell late Tuesday morning. Campbell has pleaded not guilty to multiple charges related to the attack. Prosecutors have identified him as an aspiring rapper who allegedly referenced burning someone with acid in his lyrics.

The district attorney revealed that Campbell is not known to Ikram’s family and indicated that the investigation is ongoing, leaving the door open for the possibility of additional arrests. However, no motive for the attack has been disclosed at this time.

When questioned about whether Campbell was compensated for the alleged attack, the district attorney stated she could not comment but confirmed that this aspect is under investigation. Nassau County District Attorney Anne Donnelly expressed the severity of the situation, stating, “It is clear this heartless defendant intended to cause her irreversible harm and later he cared so little about the traumatic life-altering injuries he caused, he used the attack to try to further his rap career.”
