The cause of death for Nathan Smith, the son of rapper Lil Jon, has been confirmed as an accidental drowning. According to the Fulton County Medical Examiner in Georgia, Smith—who was known by his stage name DJ Young Slade—died from “drowning in the setting of psilocybin use.” The authorities have classified the manner of death as an accident.
Psilocybin, a hallucinogenic substance derived from certain mushrooms, was detected in Smith’s blood during the autopsy. Tragically, his body was discovered in a pond near his home in Milton, Georgia, approximately 30 miles north of Atlanta, on February 6. This discovery came shortly after he was reported missing.

Lil Jon has expressed his profound grief over the loss, describing his son as an “immensely caring, thoughtful, polite, passionate, and warmhearted” individual. Nathan Smith was only 27 years old at the time of his untimely passing.
