Celebrity News: Gunplay Accuses Rick Ross of Sabotaging His Career

In a revealing interview with M3S3 TV, rapper Gunplay has made serious allegations against Rick Ross, claiming that his former mentor intentionally undermined his career. Gunplay, who was one of the founding members of Ross’s Maybach Music Group (MMG), expressed frustration over what he perceives as a significant lack of promotion and support from the label that ultimately stalled his ascent in the music industry.

Claims of Neglect and Frustration

During the conversation, Gunplay reflected on his early success, stating that he quickly gained traction in the industry with hits like “Rollin’,” “Bible on The Dash,” and “Drop The Tint.” However, he asserts that when it came time for him to receive the promotional backing that other MMG artists such as Meek Mill and Wale enjoyed, he was met with silence. “Everybody was a group effort,” Gunplay commented, adding, “But when it was Gunplay’s turn, it was crickets.”

He firmly believes that his music is on par with the hits produced by his label mates, yet he felt constrained due to a lack of financial backing and an inactive promotional team. “I got hit records. Nobody’s giving me a budget. Nobody’s doing anything,” he lamented, expressing his deep frustration with the situation.

The Publishing Controversy

Additionally, Gunplay revealed that he was pressured into selling his publishing rights for just $50,000. Compounding this issue, he received only half of the amount upfront, with just $25,000 paid at the time of the deal. He feels this forced sale, orchestrated by the label, has had detrimental effects on his career trajectory.

Reflecting on his current relationship with Rick Ross, Gunplay stated that they are no longer in contact. He described the way his career was managed as a “slap in the face,” emphasizing feelings of betrayal. “If you fk with Ross, you fk with Gunplay—that’s how it was. But when it came time for me to get the push, it just felt like a slap in the face,” he expressed candidly.

What Lies Ahead

As Gunplay continues to navigate the complexities of his career, fans and industry watchers are left questioning whether there is any possibility for reconciliation between him and Ross. Can these two Florida natives mend their once-strong bond, or is that chapter now closed? Only time will reveal the outcome as Gunplay strives to reclaim his place in the music landscape.
