TV & Film: RZA Launches 36 Cinema Distribution with Quentin Tarantino-Produced Film ‘RZA’s One Spoon of Chocolate’

RZA, the iconic founder of the Wu-Tang Clan, is making waves in the film industry with the launch of his new distribution label, 36 Cinema Distribution. The initiative kicks off with the highly anticipated release of his revenge-thriller, RZA’s One Spoon of Chocolate, which is set to hit U.S. theaters on May 1, 2026.

Teaming up with his longtime collaborator Quentin Tarantino, who will present the film, RZA brings his unique vision to the big screen. The film, heavily influenced by martial arts and exploitation cinema, tells the gripping story of an ex-military convict seeking redemption in a small town while facing dangerous adversaries.

RZA not only directed and wrote the film but also produced it, further showcasing his multifaceted talent. The film will be distributed by Variance Films and will feature select screenings in 35mm, including a special two-week engagement at LA’s Vista Theatre.

The cast of RZA’s One Spoon of Chocolate includes notable actors such as Shameik Moore, Blair Underwood, RJ Cyler, Paris Jackson, Emyri Crutchfield, Michael Harney, and Harry Goodwins. RZA expressed his excitement about the film, stating, “This embodies my journey as a filmmaker, mixing action, drama, thrills, and substance.” He emphasized that the film is not just about action but also reflects on the choices that define our lives.

Quentin Tarantino praised RZA’s work, describing the film as an “old-school, foot-to-ass, Revenge-a-matic!” He noted that the film drives audiences wild wherever it screens, promising an exhilarating cinematic experience.

RZA’s journey as a filmmaker has been long and dedicated, with the first draft of the script being written over 13 years ago. The film’s narrative centers on a character named Unique, a veteran and ex-convict who seeks a fresh start but soon finds himself embroiled in a dark mystery involving the disappearances of young men in his town, including his cousin. As he delves deeper, he discovers sinister connections to the local sheriff’s office, forcing him and his allies to fight back against the odds.

With 36 Cinema Distribution, RZA aims to not only distribute new releases but also curate classic titles for traditional and event theatrical screenings. This new venture follows the launch of 36 Cinema in 2020, a virtual screening platform dedicated to showcasing classic kung fu films with live audio commentary.

As anticipation builds for RZA’s One Spoon of Chocolate, fans and film enthusiasts alike are eager to witness the blend of RZA’s artistic vision and Tarantino’s legendary storytelling.
