Rapper 42 Dugg, whose real name is Dion Hayes, has been cleared of charges related to making malicious threats against a pregnant woman in Michigan. According to court documents, the “Grace” artist faced allegations that he sent threatening messages to the unnamed individual between November 2024 and March 2025, intending to “terrorize, frighten, intimidate, threaten, harass, molest, annoy, or disturb” her. Prosecutors claimed that Hayes sent these messages with the intent of coercing her into getting an abortion while she was pregnant with his child.
During a court appearance in January, Hayes pleaded not guilty to the charges, which could have resulted in a six-month jail sentence and a $1,000 fine if he had been found guilty. Complicating matters, Hayes faced additional scrutiny from prosecutors who attempted to revoke his bond after alleging he traveled across several states for performances, including a Mardi Gras event in Louisiana, while already on probation for a federal case in Georgia that included travel restrictions. Hayes maintained that he had received permission to undertake these professional engagements.

The trial began recently but was abruptly dismissed when the key witness failed to appear in court. Hayes’ attorney, Steven Scharg, stated, “Mr. Hayes always maintained his innocence, and we were prepared to proceed to trial today since these allegations were not true.”
With the case dismissed, 42 Dugg can now move forward, free from these serious allegations. For ongoing updates on celebrity legal matters, stay tuned to hiphopraisedmetheblog.com.
