Hip-hop mogul Damon Dash is set to take his storytelling talents to the small screen with an exciting new project. BET has officially greenlit “OG Stories,” an original talk show created and hosted by Dash himself.
This upcoming series promises to offer a unique perspective as Dash interviews influential figures from his personal network and beyond, though the specific guests have yet to be disclosed. Scheduled to premiere this spring, “OG Stories” aims to shine a light on the journeys of “OGs, cultural architects, street legends, and self-made bosses” — individuals who have carved out their success through sheer determination and resilience.
According to BET, the show will take the form of an unfiltered docuseries, showcasing real-life stories that delve into themes of survival, entrepreneurship, and the breaking of generational cycles. Through intimate conversations and cinematic storytelling, Dash intends to highlight the mindset and valuable life lessons of those who have significantly impacted their communities and culture.
Dash expressed his deep personal connection to the project, likening it to a real-life interpretation of the iconic street film “Paid in Full,” which drew inspiration from notable figures in the hip-hop world. He stated, “I want to thank BET, Louis Carr, and Brian Rikuda for believing in the vision and giving this show a home. OG Stories is really my Paid in Full, a depiction of real life and real people I know.”
The series will be created and directed by Dash under The Dash Group LLC, with Jason Harvey serving as an executive producer. The production team also includes associate producer Nicolette Durham, along with cinematographer and editor Josh Pyzynski, and a talented crew comprising Pierre Adams, Michael Coleman, Julian Ramirez, and Molly Menchen. Music supervision will be managed by both Dash and Durham.
As the project gears up for its debut later this year, fans are eager to discover which prominent figures from the realms of hip-hop, business, and street culture will grace the series as guests.
