Former NBA player Glen “Big Baby” Davis has officially been released from prison after serving 17 months for his involvement in a fraudulent scheme targeting the NBA’s health care benefits plan. Davis was one of 22 individuals indicted in 2021 for illegitimately filing reimbursement claims for dental and chiropractic services, a scheme that collectively siphoned off $2.5 million between late 2017 and mid-2019.
Initially sentenced to 40 months in May 2024, Davis was able to significantly reduce his time due to his positive behavior while incarcerated. His attorney, Brendan White, noted that Davis took full advantage of his time in prison by participating in various programs aimed at personal development. “He used his time productively while serving his sentence and took many programs during that time,” White stated. “He’s ready to become a productive member of society again.”
Although Davis is out of prison, he is not completely free from oversight. He will be under three years of supervised release and will spend time in a halfway house until July 9, where he will engage in financial management classes and drug treatment programs.
Expressing his relief and excitement about his release, Davis shared a video shortly after his exit, stating, “They tried to hold me down. You know what I’m saying? But I’m back, man. I’m back, baby.”
Davis, who was drafted by the Seattle SuperSonics in 2007 but traded to the Boston Celtics, played a key role in the team’s 2008 championship victory. His career spanned eight seasons in the NBA, with stints at teams like the Orlando Magic and Los Angeles Clippers before retiring in 2015. He briefly returned to professional basketball in Canada and even won a title in the BIG3 league.

As Davis reintegrates into society, fans are eager to see how he will navigate this new chapter in his life. For ongoing updates about celebrity news and prison releases, visit hiphopraisedmetheblog.com.
