Jay-Z is making a highly anticipated return to the stage, headlining the Roots Picnic 2026 alongside the legendary band The Roots. This performance marks Jay-Z’s first live appearance in nearly a year and is scheduled for May 30 at Philadelphia’s Belmont Plateau. Fans are particularly excited as this will be his first collaboration with The Roots in over a decade.
Recently, Jay-Z has rebranded his name to JAŸ-Z in celebration of the 30th anniversary of his groundbreaking debut album, “Reasonable Doubt.” His last performance was in June 2025 when he joined his wife, Beyoncé, during the final date of her “Cowboy Carter” international tour in Paris, where he wowed the audience with hits like “Crazy in Love,” “N—s in Paris,” and “Drunk in Love.”
The Roots Picnic is known for its vibrant atmosphere, and Shawn Gee, manager of The Roots and president of Live Nation Urban, shared his excitement about the event. “Moving the Roots Picnic to Belmont Plateau and bringing JAŸ-Z and The Roots together to perform are both bucket-list moments for us,” he stated. He also acknowledged the support from city officials that made this event possible.

Presale tickets for the two-day festival, taking place on May 30-31, are already available, with general sales beginning on March 18 at 10 a.m. ET. Details on the full lineup are expected to be revealed soon.
As Jay-Z celebrates the legacy of “Reasonable Doubt,” he has been actively promoting the album’s anniversary by reverting to his original stylization on streaming platforms and releasing classic tracks. While he hasn’t released a new album since 2017’s “4:44,” there are rumors of him being in the studio, although he has clarified that he is “absolutely not dropping an album” at this time.
