In a recent incident that has stirred social media, rapper DaBaby confronted a fan who attempted to present him with a painting of his daughters outside a nightclub. While the fan clearly wanted to share a heartfelt gift, DaBaby’s response was anything but warm.
The exchange began when the artist, enjoying a steady year following the release of his latest album BE MORE GRATEFUL, encountered the painter. After DaBaby declined the artwork, the artist took to Instagram to express his confusion over the rejection. In a swift response, DaBaby made his feelings abundantly clear in the comments section.
“You still got my daughters on yo page as a grown man after I made it clear I ain’t comfortable with that,” DaBaby commented. He continued, warning the artist against using his daughters for online attention: “Best advice I can give you, get my children off yo page & keep doing what you gifted at doing. Using my kids ain’t the route to go if you wanna go viral, that’s the route to go if you wanna get hurt. This a father talking, not a rapper.”
DaBaby further emphasized his protective nature as a father in a video statement: “I’m not the type of father that’s into grown-a** men discussing my daughters, painting pictures of my daughters, taking pictures of my kids. I don’t play like that.” He reiterated that he wouldn’t accept a painting of his daughters outside of a nightclub and expressed indifference to any negative feelings the artist might have about his principles.
As of March, DaBaby is known to have five children, and this incident illustrates the blurred lines between celebrity and fan interactions. The rapper is currently navigating his career while also defending his family’s privacy and safety.
