As the anticipation builds for the highly publicized bout between Canelo Alvarez and Christian Mbilli, the full undercard for this monumental event has been officially announced, showcasing several world title fights that promise to electrify boxing fans. Scheduled for October 31 in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, this clash will mark Alvarez’s return to the ring following his defeat against Terence Crawford in September 2025, where he lost his undisputed super-middleweight title.
Canelo is eager to bounce back and reclaim his status in the boxing world as he challenges Mbilli for the WBC super-middleweight title. However, the event has recently drawn attention due to security concerns arising from the ongoing Houthi-Saudi conflict, leading to speculation about the event’s stability. Nonetheless, the promotion is pressing on as planned, maintaining the excitement surrounding the ‘Mexico vs The World’ theme that will underline the night.
The co-main event will feature Canelo’s fellow stablemate, Jaime Munguia, who is set to defend his WBA super-middleweight title against Nikita Zon. Tension surrounds this matchup, as Munguia’s mandatory challenger, Bektemir Melikuziev, has publicly stated his refusal to step aside, raising questions about the bout’s legitimacy.
The undercard also boasts a variety of compelling matchups, including Rafael Espinoza defending his WBO featherweight title against Lorenzo Parra, and a vacant IBF super-lightweight title fight where Lindolfo Delgado will face Artur Biyarslanov. Additionally, fans will witness the clash of super bantamweight talents as David Picasso goes head-to-head with Carl Martin.
Further highlights include Reito Tsutsumi taking on Raymundo Rojas, Sultan Al-Mohammad battling Erick Villegas, Bek Nurmaganbet squaring off against Marcos Vazquez, Carlos Emiliano facing Flavius Biea, and Bryan Leon clashing with Hector Aguirre.
As the boxing community eagerly awaits this event, concerns linger over the safety and security surrounding the venue. Still, the excitement for the fights ahead remains palpable.
