Local News: Two Amazon Workers Injured in Shooting Outside Brooklyn Facility

In a shocking incident of violence, two Amazon employees were shot late Saturday night outside the Amazon Fulfillment Center located on Bay Street near Hicks Street in Red Hook, Brooklyn. The shooting occurred around 11:15 PM, leaving a 25-year-old woman and a 23-year-old man injured. The woman, identified as Dominique Dunlap, was struck in the chest, while the man suffered a gunshot wound to the shoulder. Both victims were quickly transported to NewYork-Presbyterian Brooklyn Methodist Hospital, where they are currently in stable condition.

Dominique Dunlap was reportedly returning to the facility after a visit to a local deli when she was caught in the crossfire. Family members described her as an “innocent bystander” who was struck by a bullet not intended for her.

According to a fundraising page set up for her, she experienced significant blood loss from the injury and now faces a challenging journey toward both physical and emotional recovery, as a bullet remains lodged in her body.

The male victim was reportedly bringing his girlfriend, who also works at Amazon, back to the facility from a nearby bus stop when the shooting occurred. Fortunately, she was unharmed during the incident. Authorities are currently searching for two male suspects who fled the scene in a white sedan, and the motive behind the shooting is still under investigation.

This incident highlights ongoing concerns about safety in urban areas and the risks faced by individuals in their daily lives. As the investigation unfolds, community members and local officials are calling for increased measures to ensure the safety of workers and residents alike.
