Big Sean hasn’t blessed his fans with new music in quite some time, but a recent comment has them speculating that their dry spell may be coming to an end.
Rap Radar‘s Elliott Wilson re-posted a freestyle of the “IDFWU” rapper spitting over a J. Dilla beat on Saturday (February 10), in which Big Sean even name-checks Taylor Swift over the beat
The positive responses to his freestyle prompted the rapper to tease a new album in the comments. “Nah its time for a new album this year fasho,” he wrote. “N what u know bout that Dilla beat Elliot?!”
Big Sean hasn’t released any new music since his 2022 single “Hate Our Love” alongside Queen Naija. The previous year, he patnered with Hit-Boy on the EP What You Expect, which arrived a year after his last full-length solo project, Detroit 2.
It’s not clear, however, whether this freestyle will be incorporated into the new album, or whether the beat will be re-used for a new song.
Last month, he and Bryson Tiller took turns rapping over J Dilla’s beat from Slum Village’s “Get Dis Money” on a new single of the same name.
The track is featured on Tiller’s new Slum Tiller Vol. 3 EP, part of the singer’s “Tiller Tuesdays” series.
On the cut, the Louisville-bred MC laments the end of a relationship, spitting: “She treat me like I’m deceased like I’m a dead artist.” He adds, “My n-gga warned me like, ‘Please, dog, be very cautious.’”
Big Sean also taps into his relationship bars, rapping: “I guess you don’t know what you got until you see it going/ Seeking closure but I text emoji left the message open.”
Tiller began his Tuesday release series earlier this month with the arrival of a new single, “Lost Intro
The R&B singer unveiled the song with the single artwork inspired by the Grand Theft Auto video game series. Over upbeat, subterranean production from Sango, Tiller addresses his critics while showcasing his rapping ability, namedropping JAY-Z in the process.
“Learned from all my enemies, laughing at my mini me’s/ I wish you could see the texts that these n-ggas sent to me/ Hov telling me I’m nice, are you kidding me?” he spits.
At the end of 2022, Tiller jumped on a remix of Flo Milli’s “Never Lose Me” with a raunchy verse.
On the song, he spits: “I’m sliding in, got one hand on her coochie/ Sticky, no biggie, it’s juicy, thinking she dreaming.”
