Coi Leray has revealed that she has been on an intentional journey to better herself, sharing some of the steps she’s taken while also crediting those around her for keeping her on track.
Talking to Forbes, the rapper discussed her growth as a human being as she has navigated being in the spotlight.
“I have great intentions,” Leray started after being asked about her evolution, “and I know that at the end of the day, if I just pushed myself to focus on becoming a better me whether it’s in my tone, my delivery, my attitude, my routine of waking up in the morning, waking up earlier, going to church every Sunday, writing in my journal, that’s how I got to this place now.
“I’m blessed to also have such amazing people in my life to keep me levelheaded. So I’ll call them and be like ‘yo’ and if I’m in a place where I say something or do something, they’ll check me. They’ll check me in a way where they’ll be ‘you should have approached it in this way, you could have handled it like this’ and you know what, you’re right.””
Leray has had difficulties navigating fame especially in regards to her relationship with her father Benzino.
She previously said she was ashamed to be his daughter.
And this is why I NEVER WANTED ANYBODY TO KNOW!!!” she wrote in 2021. “I’M EMBARRASSED TO BE YOUR DAUGHTER. I should have been a boy your right cause I would have knocked you the fuck out already. NUMB TO THE PAIN!! I’m hurting right now but it’s all good. Ima be the one to PUT US RIGHT BACK IN THAT MANSION.”
Leray was also mentioned during her father’s ongoing feud with Eminem.
On Em’s track “Doomsday Pt. 2” which is a two minute diss aimed at Benzino, Slim Shady rapped: “Well, I guess then I regret to inform you, hate to spoil the day/ But this doesn’t bring me no joy to say/ Guess that Coi Leray feat’ is in the toilet, ay?”
She later addressed the mention on social media.
N-ggas went through so much shit in 2023, you would of thought people found God in 2024,” she began. “Mfs be so caught up in the devils work, it’s almost Impossible for them to change. Misery loves company. Rap beef is so washed and tired. Exhausting. Embarrassing. Just fucking over all corny as fuck.”
She continued: “I got no issues with no one. I’m so locked in on my grown and sexy vibes… if anybody don’t like me, that’s something they gotta take on with them selves. There’s no way I’m about to entertain these grown ass men and the beef they been having for over 20years . Lmao it’s so stupid all I can do is laugh. 2 decades later ?? gtfoh im grown. Move along. Go Stream my shit.”
