Uncle Luke Critiques New Generation of Rappers and Calls Out Drake Over Legal Filings

HipHopRaisedMeTheBlog.com brings you the latest from Uncle Luke, who recently shared his thoughts on the current state of hip-hop and offered pointed criticism of Drake during a fiery livestream. The legendary Miami rapper didn’t hold back as he expressed his frustration with the new generation of artists, labeling them as “soft,” while also addressing Drake’s recent legal actions against Universal Music Group and Spotify.

In his livestream, Uncle Luke acknowledged his appreciation for Drake’s music but took issue with the rapper’s legal complaints related to Kendrick Lamar’s diss track “Not Like Us.” Luke began by playing Drake’s hit “I’m On One” in the background, jokingly calling attention to the fact that Drake is currently embroiled in a lawsuit. “That’s the guy who filed a lawsuit,” he said. “I like Drake’s music. I don’t like what he got going on right now, but I like his music.”

Luke went on to criticize Drake for attempting to expose the music industry over claims of payola, suggesting that Drake’s lawsuit was inappropriate. “Some things you don’t talk about,” he stated. “You don’t talk about Payola. You don’t talk about buying live streams. And you don’t sue after you got dissed. And you done did some dissing.”

The Miami rapper’s comments extended to a broader critique of what he perceives as the sensitivity of today’s rappers. “Y’all young people live in a soft society,” he declared. “I’m glad I’m an OG. Y’all young people, soft. G####### it. Y’all soft, soft. Soft.”

Uncle Luke expressed concern that modern rappers are too quick to escalate conflicts to violence rather than handling disputes through traditional means. “You got rappers getting into a diss war, and then they go get the gun and shoot each other. No, how about going to fight?” he suggested. He reminisced about a time when rappers, including himself, Dr. Dre, and Snoop Dogg, would engage in diss tracks without resorting to violence or legal action.

“All your favorite rappers are snitching and talking about payola and getting in their feelings and suing people over a diss,” he stated. “We dissed each other. Me and Dr. Dre and Snoop Dogg dissed each other. And other rappers, The Real Roxanne, Roxanne Shanté, everybody dissed each other. One thing off limits: kids, girlfriends, mamas—all that.”

Luke’s comments came shortly after he celebrated a legal victory of his own, securing rights to the 2 Live Crew catalog and trademark. This victory highlights the ongoing struggles artists face in protecting their work, a theme that resonates with his critique of the current hip-hop landscape.
