N.O.R.E.’s Past Claims of Being Sued Resurface Amid Drake’s Legal Filings

HipHopRaisedMeTheBlog.com reports that N.O.R.E. is making headlines again after an old interview clip surfaced, drawing connections to Drake’s recent legal issues.

On November 27, a previously undated video featuring the rapper and Drink Champs host was shared on social media by producer J. Money, and later reposted on Drink Champs’ official Facebook page. In the clip, N.O.R.E. discusses his experiences with being “sued” over rap “battles,” a statement that gained renewed attention following Drake’s legal actions against Universal Music Group, Spotify, and iHeartRadio regarding Kendrick Lamar’s diss track “Not Like Us.”

In the clip, N.O.R.E. states, “The streets is the streets. This is the industry. N-ggas wanna bring they lawyers to muthafucking battles, man. Don’t bring your lawyer. Bring your gat or bring your clique.” When asked if he has personal experience with this, N.O.R.E. responds affirmatively, saying, “Personally, I got sued three times from bitch-ass n-ggas. Three times! They not ghetto celebrities. You telling. N-ggas know who you are. You sued me.”

While N.O.R.E. did not specify which artists he was referring to, he has had beefs with several notable figures over the years, including Nas, Prodigy, and Tragedy Khadafi.

Drake initiated his legal actions concerning “Not Like Us” on November 25, filing documents that accuse UMG and Spotify of artificially inflating the popularity of Kendrick Lamar’s diss track against him. According to The Independent, Drake’s legal team filed a “pre-action” petition in a Manhattan court, asserting that UMG employed bots, payola, and other deceptive methods to promote the song. This petition is a prerequisite in New York State to gather information before filing an official lawsuit.

The legal documents claim, “UMG did not rely on chance, or even ordinary business practices. It instead launched a campaign to manipulate and saturate the streaming services and airwaves.” The filing also alleges that UMG paid Spotify to promote “Not Like Us” to users searching for unrelated songs and artists, as well as to Apple to redirect Siri users from Drake’s catalog to “Not Like Us.”

Shortly after, Drake filed a second legal complaint adding iHeartRadio to the mix and hinting at potential defamation claims related to the Kendrick Lamar diss track.
