Mayor Eric Adams Declares December 20 as Joey Bada$$ Day

Joey Bada$$ received a significant honor from New York City Mayor Eric Adams, who proclaimed December 20, 2024, as Joey Bada$$ Day in recognition of the rapper’s commitment to mentorship and community empowerment.

The announcement was made during the New York City Department of Youth and Community Development’s (DYCD) second annual Hip-Hop Holiday Giveaway, an event designed to bring joy to local families while highlighting Bada$$’s ongoing dedication to mentoring youth. The event was held in partnership with the Million Dollar Give Back initiative and featured appearances by notable figures such as La La Anthony, SAINt JHN, Sleepy Hallow, and Sheff G.

This proclamation coincides with the second anniversary of Bada$$’s ImpactMENtorship Program, which focuses on empowering men from diverse backgrounds through mentorship and inspiration. The day concluded with an exclusive dinner celebration at Tatiana, a popular restaurant in the city.

“DYCD is excited to host our second annual Hip-Hop Holiday Giveaway, in partnership with the Million Dollar Giveback initiative,” said DYCD Commissioner Keith Howard. “We are thrilled to honor artist Joey Bada$$ for his commitment to DYCD and youth, and his ImpactMENtorship program.”

In addition to his community efforts, Joey Bada$$ continues to pursue creative and intellectual endeavors. He recently completed an artist residency at the Clive Davis Institute at NYU Tisch and has become the youngest inaugural artist scholar in residence at Columbia University’s Teachers College for 2025.
