In a dramatic turn of events on social media, Nicki Minaj has drawn fellow superstars Drake and Beyoncé into her ongoing feud with SZA. On July 17, Minaj made headlines with a post where she claimed that Drake originally wanted her, not SZA, to feature on his track “Rich Baby Daddy.” She further alleged that Beyoncé was hesitant to sing SZA’s lyrics for their collaboration on the 2015 track “Feeling Myself.”
Minaj began her post by referencing Drake’s 2023 collaboration with SZA and Sexyy Red, stating, “I wonder if she know I turned down being on the ‘shake dat a– for drake’ song. He wanted me & [Sexyy] on it.” She explained her reasoning for waiting for her own album, “Pink Friday 2,” to collaborate with Drake, suggesting it would feel more special. “And now that silly goose still out here shaking dat a– for drake every day,” she added.
The Queen of Rap went on to address SZA’s claims of writing for Beyoncé, mentioning that SZA has been vocal about her co-writing credit with Bey. In a playful yet pointed recollection, Minaj shared, “I remember me & Beyoncé was going back & forth on the phone about that part of the song. Bey was like you sing it, I was like NOOOOO you sing it…” She concluded this part of her post by emphasizing that “none of us wanted to sing those s–t lyrics.”
This latest round of insults follows Minaj’s initial criticism of SZA on July 15, which stemmed from issues with SZA’s former manager, Terrence “Punch” Howard. SZA, in response to Minaj’s remarks, had posted on social media, suggesting that Minaj was taking the bait in their back-and-forth.
Minaj’s recent tirade has included calling SZA “ugly” and a “liar,” mocking her appearance by commenting on her “fake freckles,” and stating, “B—h looking & sounding like she got stung by a f–king bee.” In contrast, SZA has maintained a more subdued response, stating, “I don’t give a f–k bout none of that weird s–t you popping,” and highlighting Minaj’s previous requests for collaboration.
Amidst the drama, Minaj remarked on SZA’s delayed responses, suggesting, “Took the Btch 2 days to be coached on what to say & do next. These btchs have no identity, can’t think off the top of their heads if you paid them to.”
