In a significant ruling, Isaac Garcia, a 20-year-old gang member from the Bronx, has been sentenced to seven years in prison for a shooting that injured four individuals outside Pelham Preparatory Academy. The sentence was handed down by Bronx Supreme Court Justice Seth Steed, nearly three years after the violent incident occurred on September 9, 2022.
Garcia, associated with the “1300” gang, sparked the chaos when he responded to a street fight by firing a 9-mm pistol into a crowd, striking four individuals who were not his intended targets. Surveillance footage captured him discharging 13 rounds, resulting in injuries to the victims and highlighting the reckless nature of his actions.
In May of this year, Garcia entered a guilty plea for Attempted Murder in the second degree. The prosecution sought a longer sentence of nine years, accompanied by five years of post-release supervision, but the final sentence imposed was seven years plus the recommended supervision period.
Bronx District Attorney Darcel D. Clark commented on the case, emphasizing the emotional trauma the victims will endure for the rest of their lives. “It is a miracle that no one was killed,” she stated, reflecting on the serious consequences of Garcia’s reckless behavior.
The prosecution team, led by Assistant District Attorney Stephen J. Russo from the Violent Criminal Enterprise Bureau, underscored the gravity of the defendant’s actions. The investigation involved collaboration between NYPD detectives and the Bronx District Attorney’s office, with acknowledgments given to Detective Kyle Keiser of the 49th Precinct and Officer Christopher Multari from the Evidence Collection Team for their roles in the case.
