UTICA, NY — A 25-year-old man from New York City, Daishaughn Hodge, was apprehended on August 14 in connection with a murder that occurred on August 1 in Brooklyn. Hodge was arrested at a residence on the 900 block of Downer Avenue by members of the U.S. Marshals Regional Fugitive Task Force, which included personnel from the Utica Police, Oneida County Sheriff’s Office, Oneida County Probation, New York State Police, and New Hartford Police.
The operation also saw the participation of NYPD warrants detectives. Upon entering the location, law enforcement officials successfully arrested Hodge. During a subsequent search, they discovered a loaded .45 caliber handgun concealed in his waistband.
While being transported in a Utica Police patrol vehicle, Hodge exhibited disruptive behavior, repeatedly kicking the back door in an apparent attempt to damage it. His actions caused significant damage, with estimates running into the thousands of dollars as the door came loose from its frame.
Following his arrest and the transport incident, Hodge was charged with multiple offenses, including criminal possession of a weapon in the second degree, criminal possession of a weapon in the third degree, criminal possession of a firearm, and criminal mischief in the third degree.
The swift action by law enforcement underscores the collaborative efforts to apprehend individuals wanted for serious crimes, ensuring community safety in the wake of violent incidents.
