Lil Durk has found himself in legal hot water once again after authorities reported that he was caught with an Apple Watch while in jail, and allegedly attempted to destroy the device. This incident has raised concerns about witness tampering in his ongoing murder-for-hire case.
On October 6, prosecutors filed a motion requesting an anonymous jury for the rapper’s upcoming trial, citing the recent discovery of the Apple Watch in his possession. According to the motion, “In late August 2025, BOP officials seized an Apple Watch with cellular capability from defendant.” The document also highlights Durk’s troubling behavior following the seizure, alleging that he obstructed the investigation by attempting to damage or destroy the device.
This is not the first time Durk has faced scrutiny for violating communication rules while incarcerated. Last December, he was accused of making unregulated three-way calls while at the Metropolitan Detention Center (MDC) in Los Angeles, where he was extradited from Florida last November.
Lil Durk is currently awaiting trial following his arrest in October 2022. He has been accused of hiring five men from Chicago to travel to California and murder rapper Quando Rondo in retaliation for the death of King Von, who was killed by a Quando associate during a confrontation in Atlanta in 2020. During the botched attempt on Rondo’s life, his cousin, Saviay’a Robinson, tragically lost her life instead.
The rapper’s trial is set to begin on January 6, 2026. As the legal proceedings unfold, XXL has reached out to Durk’s attorney for comment on the latest developments.
