In a significant development for the hip-hop community, New York rapper Kay Flock has been handed a 30-year prison sentence following his conviction on serious charges including racketeering conspiracy, attempted murder, and assault with a deadly weapon. This sentencing comes after a trial that concluded in March, where the 22-year-old was also found guilty of related firearm offenses.
U.S. Attorney Jay Clayton addressed the severity of Flock’s actions, stating, “Kevin Perez used violence and fame to fuel fear and intimidation across the Bronx. Perez and his gang members carried out a string of shootings that struck both rival gang members and innocent bystanders. He leveraged his platform as a well-known rapper to glorify his violent lifestyle, boasting about his actions and threatening rivals. His reckless behavior led to a series of retaliatory shootings that resulted in numerous injuries and fatalities in the Bronx. Thanks to the diligent work of law enforcement and our office, today’s sentence removes violent gang leaders from our streets, which is what New Yorkers deserve.”
In response to his earlier conviction, Kay Flock expressed gratitude to those who stood by him during his legal challenges. He shared a heartfelt message thanking supporters, his legal team, and the judge for their respect throughout the trial process. “I want to give thanks to everybody who supported me and kept me in their prayers,” he stated. “I have to thank my lawyer, Michael Ashley, for fighting for me. Even though we’re still fighting, it ain’t over until Allah says it’s over. I love my fans and supporters, and I pray everyone out there is at peace and feels positive too.”
As of now, there has been no official response from Kay Flock or his representatives regarding the sentence he received today.
