New Single Alert: Doechii Responds to “Industry Plant” Accusations in New SZA Collaboration “Girl, Get Up”

Doechii has teamed up with SZA for a powerful new track titled “Girl, Get Up,” which dropped unexpectedly on December 30. In this collaboration, Doechii takes a stand against the “industry plant” allegations that have been circulating about her.

In the song, Doechii boldly addresses her critics, rapping, “All that industry plant shit wack / I see it in the blogs, I see you in the chats.” She challenges the narrative that her success is unearned, stating, “Y’all can’t fathom that I worked this hard.” This fierce declaration is part of a larger message, as she hints at addressing further misogynistic criticism on her forthcoming album.

The track is produced by Jay Versace and features a sampling of the iconic beat from Birdman and Clipse’s “What Happened to That Boy.” SZA complements Doechii’s verses with a smooth and soaring chorus that highlights her vocal prowess.

“Girl, Get Up” marks the duo’s second collaboration, following their earlier work on the “Persuasive (Remix)” from Doechii’s 2022 EP, she / her / black bitch. This release rounds off an impressive year for Doechii, who left a significant mark at the 2025 Grammy Awards with her performance and heartfelt speech, inspiring Black women everywhere to embrace their potential and disregard negative stereotypes.

As the excitement builds for the upcoming Grammy Awards in February, where Doechii is nominated for five awards including Record of the Year and Song of the Year for her hit “Anxiety,” fans are eager to see what she will achieve next.
