BROOKLYN, NY — The Brooklyn Nets broke their five-game losing streak with a hard-fought 112-109 victory over the Chicago Bulls at the Barclays Center. Despite a late-game surge from the Bulls, which saw them outscore the Nets 37-23 in the fourth quarter, Brooklyn managed to secure the win.
In a tense finish, the Nets held a 108-102 lead with just a minute remaining, but the Bulls clawed their way back with a pivotal three-pointer from Jalen Smith and quick baskets from Isaac Okoro and Tre Jones, momentarily taking a one-point lead with under 50 seconds left.
However, it was Michael Porter Jr. who stepped up when it mattered most. After receiving a screen from Drake Powell, Porter drove to the basket and finished strong against Coby White, putting the Nets back on top at 110-109 with 5.4 seconds left.
The Bulls had a chance to respond but faltered under pressure, burning two timeouts before a crucial turnover that allowed Noah Clowney to seal the game with two free throws.
Nets head coach Jordi Fernandez emphasized the importance of maintaining composure in tight situations, stating, “The lesson is that there’s no safe lead in the NBA. Teams will always punch back… guys kept composure and scored when we needed to.”
Clowney was instrumental in building the Nets’ lead, contributing significantly during a second-quarter run that saw the team extend their advantage from 42-36 to 57-40 by halftime.
“First couple times I drove, I noticed that they weren’t holding the gap,” Clowney explained. “When I realized they were just playing 1-on-1, I just started going.”
With this win, the Nets look to build momentum as they continue their season. For more updates and insights into the world of sports, visit hiphopraisedmetheblog.com.
